Sumatra island is the sixth biggest island in the whole world and one of the largest islands in Indonesia. This island is an adventure paradise in Indonesia off the beaten track.  Sumatra is wild, majestic and gorgeous. Just one of the most attractive islands of Indonesia.

Some of the reasons why you should travel to Sumatra :

1. Pulau Weh

There are a lot of incredible things to do in Pulau Weh. But  mainly thhe island is the  perfect destination for divers.  The underwater life it is truly amazing! Pulau Weh is just a peaceful,  relaxed and  slow-paced island. The place is just beautiful with gorgeous turquoise blue waters and  several white-sand beaches.

2. Lake Toba

Lake Toba is an amazing natural wonder. The huge crater lake, the largest in the world, was formed by a massive volcanic eruption over 70,000 years ago.And also  Lake Toba is known as the largest lake in Southeast Asia and one of the deepest in the world. The lake is surrounded by mountains and rice fields. Amazing views!

One of the best things to do around Lake Toba is kayaking. You’ll be spoiled by the views of volcanic mountains touching the sky above. We also recommend you to explore traditional villages and learn about Batak culture.  Or visit some breathtaking waterfalls. The most impressive is the 120-meter tall Sipiso-Piso Waterfall. The waterfall is on the the northern edge of Lake Toba.

3. Jungle Trekking in Ketambe

One of the most amazing experiences in Sumatra. You can opt for day walks and longer trekking tours from two up to seven days with overnight stay at different places. We recommend you to spend some days in  the rainforrest which is one of the last orang utan habitats in the world.

4. Bukit Lawang Jungle Trekking

Bukit Lawang is known for the largest animal sanctuary of Sumatran orangutan (around 5,000 orangutans occupying the area) and also the main access point to the Gunung Leuser National Park from the east side. The Gunung Leuser National Park is listed as a UNESO World Heritage site and one of the last places in the world where you can have the chance to observe the critically endangered Sumatran orangutan in its natural habitat.  For us it is important while trekking in the jungle to respect environment. 5. Lake Maninjau

Lake Manunjau, located near the city of Bukittingi, is one of the calmest places in Indonesia. This lake is listed as the eleventh largest lake in Indonesia. Meanwhile, in West Sumatra, Maninjau is the second largest lake. If you are travelling across Sumatra this is the perfect place to stop, relax and recover from the journey.
