When you start to plan your tailor-made trip to Indonesia by contacting one of our specialists, one of the most frequent questions we receive is the follwoing: when is the best time to visit Indonesia?
Indonesia is hot all year around. And indeed Indonesia is a year-round destination. The best time to visit Indonesia ultimately depends on what you want from your trip. But usually we can say the best months to visit Indonesia are from March (lees rain) to November (when it starts to rain). Then usually in December, January and February it rains a lot. But it depends on the trip you would like to do. We always say that it is possible to visit Indonesia all the months of the year.
We need to say that some islands are different. Like Sulawesi and West Papua & Raja Ampat. So if you would like to know when is the best time to visit Sulawesi keep on reading!
Sulawesi is special. It is a big island . For example in Toraja it rains almost every day of the year....And we can say that the best month to visit Toraja is in September. Then if you would like to visit Togian Island it is better not to do it on December, January or February. Bad weather, bad sea conditions...not recommended at all! But instead in December you can visit (all the year) North Sulawesi.
West Papua and Raja Ampat Islands are quite different from the other islands of Indonesia. The best time to visit Raja Ampat is October to April, when large numbers of manta rays are present at cleaning stations. For the very calmest waters and best visibility, visit in November, December, January, February and March.
Speaking of rain, the rainy season in Raja Ampat isn’t as predictable as some of Indonesia’s other islands. There is usually more rain between June and September, but this doesn’t mean it rains every day in this season and not at all in other months.
Are you considering a dive trip to Raja Ampat? Please feel free to contact us and we wil explain it with all kind of details.
