1 Week Indonesia Itinerary: Best of Java

Java is perfect for those who want to combine culture, nature and volcanoes. We recommend you first visit Jogjakarta. Once there you can visit this city with its Sultan’s Palace and Water Palace. However, in the city there are hidden gems in the form of tourist villages scattered around the area that everyone should explore. Contact us for further information!

And of course you can not miss the  magnificent Buddhist temple of Borobudur. The Borobudur Temple Compounds is one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world, and was built in the 8th and 9th centuries AD during the reign of the Syailendra Dynasty. The Borobudur Temple Compounds consists of three monuments: namely the Borobudur Temple and two smaller temples situatued to the east on a straight axis to Borobudur. The two temples are Mendut Temple, whose depiction of Buddha is represented by a formidable monolith accompanied by two Bodhisattvas, and Pawon Temple, a smaller temple whose inner space does not reveal which deity might have been the object of worship. Those three monuments represent phases in the attainment of Nirvana. Since it was restored, the Borobudur Temple Compounds has been named as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Indonesia in 1991. And also named UNESCO World Heritage Site we find Prambanan Temples Coumpounds. Built in the 10th century, this is the largest temple compound dedicated to Shiva in Indonesia. Rising above the centre of the last of these concentric squares are three temples decorated with reliefs illustrating the epic of the Ramayana, dedicated to the three great Hindu divinities (Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma) and three temples dedicated to the animals who serve them.

And after visiting the temples of Java, we strongly recommend you to visit some of the best Java volcanoes as Merapi, Gunung Bromo or Kawah Ijen. They are far from Jogjakarta but the time you spend to get to them is worthy. We recommend you visiting Mount Bromo at sunrise for truly spectacular views or hike Kawah Ijen, known for its blue fire, acidic crater lake, and labour-intensive sulfur mining. Indeed Kawa Ijen is the largest blue flame area in the world.

1 Week Indonesia Itinerary: Best of Sulawesi

Sulawesi is one of the most authentic islands of Indonesia and perfect if you are looking for a trip to Indonesia off the beaten path. Far away from mass tourism a you can enjoy one of the most beautiful places in Indonesia. Of course, Sulawesi deserves at least one month visit but if you have just one week we recommend you to visit Tana Toraja, Sengkang and then Bira Beach. A great 7 days itinerary in South Sulawesi. And for us, the best hotel in Tana Toraja is Santai Toraja.

1 Week Indonesia Itinerary: Best of Sumatra

Sumatra is a destination in its own right. The island of Sumatra offers a tropical paradise of lush jungle, beguiling wildlife, extreme landscapes and fascinating cultures. A very attractive island. Sumatra is the largest island of Indonesia, so again it will be impossible to discover all the island in one week. So our recommendations for 1 week trip are  a trekk to Ketambe or visit North Sumatra. But we are a local travel agency in Indonesia specialized in tailor-made tours. So we can create different one week intineraries in Sumatra; just contact us!
